Boy Scouts of America, Friends of Scouting Social
The 2017 Boy Scouts of America, Pelican District Friends of Scouting Social will be held on Thursday, April 6th. This event will benefit young people and their families in Jefferson Parish. Our community needs young people with strong moral values more than ever and Scouting needs our help. I hope you will be able to join us and many other community leaders for this after hours social. The event will be held on Thursday, April 6th from 5:30pm til 6:30pm at Postlethwaite and Netterville on the 22nd floor of the Galleria Building. Join us for a great view, refreshment, beer and wine, and to hear what Scouting is doing for youth in our area. This past year, the Pelican District was able to provide a quality program to more than 1,700 young people who participated in weekly Scouting programs. These youth were supported with trained adult volunteers who donated countless hours to build character in tomorrow’s leaders. Many Scouts participated in great activities like the Pelican District Camporee, the Pelican District Cub Day Camp, and numerous activities at Salmen Scout Reservation in Kiln, Mississippi. Last year Scouts and Scouters donated an average of more than 14 hours per person in various service projects throughout our community. These projects assisted local schools, religious organizations, non-profits, government agencies, and individuals in need. This event is free to attend, but there will be an ask for support during the program.
